UK Met Office to publish climate records

"If you look at the land data, the sea surface data temperatures and mean air temperature data, those three records independently show a 0.7 degree warming trend over the past 100 years. That's all published by the IPCC."

"We also know that NASA have data sets that show pretty much the same trend over the past 100 years and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) also have a data set -- which, I think, is all freely available."

.....by releasing the data it was continuing a policy of putting as many station temperature records as possible into the public domain. The office says it's confident that the data will show that global average land temperatures have risen over the past 150 years.

LA has a way to go before it is a culture capital

the goal of reshaping the world capital of entertainment into a world capital of culture is a worthwhile one. But, there is a lot more work to be done. LA will not get there if the leading civic lights declare mission accomplished and explain the failure of the rest of the world to get it as just a PR problem.

Opinion: I don't agree with this writer. I have lived near LA not long, but not short. In culture matter, LA has numerous cultural areas within itself. Korea town, Japan town, China town and etc. If people are not reluctant to be in isolated area in those cultural towns, the LA is a big cultural capital.

Addicted to Money

FEW economists can explain the global financial crisis as lucidly or engagingly as David McWilliams. His take on consumer culture, for instance, is illustrated via the long-running Aussie soap Neighbours. "Some time in the 1990s," McWilliams argues, "the sets began to resemble a shoppers' paradise, full of the gadgets we couldn't really afford." It's true: back in the '80s, the Ramsays and the Robinsons were content in their daggy but comfortable, three-bedroom homes.

What a way to grab guys' attention. The advertisement of women in bathing suits is very American cultural code that attracts both men and women gender. i don't know about the women, but my question is how many men will get what the sexy females are advertising right then. I wouldn't. I wouldn't even recognize if the dog is made of tofu, checking out the ladies, unless they tell me. Advertisements, sometimes, make themselves irrational to the products they are trying to sell. I saw this ad in this magazine one day. There was this hot girl standing with sexy pose, not even smoking. Then there was logo of "Camel" at the right bottom of the page. It lost me right then. I enjoyed looking at the girl in the image, but when I came to recognize the ad is for camel cigarettes, I got distracted and was forced to forget it. What is happening in the image has strong impact and weak communication. The guy that holds the dog in the image may only remember the phone number the playmate give or how hot the girl was, but none of PETA.

I don't really read news or anything like it. I wasn't really aware of the topic when I just researched it on the internet. I found out that they were one of the extremists. The problem the extremist has had through history was that they want the change fast. They think stronger protest brings the quicker social or global change, which is wrong. Society may just think of them ignorant about it and disdainful because of their movement resulting social disorder. Protest has to be reasonable to claim people over to agree. Derek Jenson was another case. His speech to bring people, distorting the social code of "Hope" was very friendly and interesting to read, even though it was a bit extreme.

United States recorded its wettest month of October on record

The nation averaged precipitation amounts of 4.15 inches, nearly doubled the long-term average of 2.04 inches from 1901-2000.

The very wet month of October has helped many states along the mid- and Lower Mississippi Valley achieve or near their wettest years on record and has decreased drought overall with only 12 percent of the country experiencing drought conditions, which is the second smallest drought footprint of the decade, according to the NOAA report. (El Nino is the likely cause of extremely wet weather across the South)

I always think about how micro-small we are in this universe. When I look at the stars at night and think many of them are actually bigger than Earth, I feel really small. Then I ask myself, is it really worth to study all the things that the school teaches. All the movies nowadays talk about extinction of human species. Then, what should I learn?

Being sophomore is, I think, more loose than being freshmen. You know how to manage time for the school better. But I am still kind of bad at it.

My grandmother had passed away. She used to take care of me when I was really really young I can't even remember. The person that goes through the harshest moment is my dad. I know he hasn't been a good son to her. "An absence of a person makes the heart grows fonder". When she is now gone, my dad regrets. What can I do for my dad?

I have heard a good question from an old guy

Q. If you can only be a tree or a bird, what would you rather be?
Old Guy. When I was young, I wanted to be a bird to fly around and feel free from anything. But now as being old, I would rather be a tree. The tree can only stand in one place but can become something as time goes on, but birds would die quickly.
Me. I want to rather be a bird even if its life cycle is not long. Becoming tree, I wouldn't have a chance to see what the world is like. If I were a bird I would be more satisfied that I explored the world better than tree.

Another week of the school has started...Sigh... I have spent the whole summer in Korea and I couldn't wait to come back to Michigan; away from mom and dad. It is because I have already spent eight years only with my brother. Eight years is too much without parents. Now I am more comfortable without them. It is really sad to think so, but it is true.

I went to this new church today. It has been almost 5 years since I stopped going to church. I really didn't like it, though. I used to be a really sacred believer. I was sure about the hidden silhouette of the God. The reason i stopped going was that I didn't really like the belief of a superior being knows about my secret thoughts and behaviors.

New mustang came out. Unlike other asians, I feel extremely attracted by American cars, specially mustang. Challenger, Camaro, Mustang are my favorite cars and they all have similar atmosphere if you look close to them. Now, I get ride from Daniel to the class. My parents are not in budget of buying a car for me. So, I have to bare with that. I mean, it is exciting news for me though, still. Better design would lead me to purchase the car in very closer future.

Fisherman land a bluefin tuna

This is the image I found while I was looking for a news to write here. But the reason to put the image here is different from how I tended to; I thought the photography is very strong image and composition going on. Dead fishes and the ocean are well balanced and kind of bordered by the people. The big fish in the middle gets the whole center of attention among the elements in the image. I thought this was pretty interesting image.

It was a such great game. I am not into football at all because I think a football game takes too much time on other than football. I usually get bored between few long breaks that a football game has. However, I enjoyed today's game. I watched in on TV. Last week's game against Notre Dame was also big fun game. Disregarding who won and lost, the tension the games gave to me was high and exciting.

I have no class today. I've slept for whole morning and been resting for rest of the day. It is good for me to have three holidays in each week. I need enough time to think over what I have to do, What I am going to do, and all. Also, everybody loves friday. Friday always leads me outside and enjoy the night of the day. Today, I have a plan to go to Chris's birthday party. Most of my other friends are aware of it, too. But, the thing is that I don't really like places where so many people are crowded. I like quiet and pacific place like my house. Hmm.. I planning to get back to my place very quickly; I don't think I am going to stay there long.

Animation

1.     Explain how, using animation, you were able to create “magic”.

- It started with still moment of images and then became a movie. Also, I made my character to come out from the white board and walk in real life.

2.     Explain what story you wish to tell and how you would like a viewer to feel when looking at your animation.

- Well, I put a theme in this animation, which is that there is always bigger world than everybody thinks. So, I want people to be always diligent, hardworking, and never get satisfied with immediate surroundings.

3.     Explain the choice of sound to accentuate the visuals.

- I chose sound effects only according to the animation. There is no music except for ending the story. I focused the sound only to support to make viewers to understand what is going on in the video.

3 different moments of time

1.     Explain how you created 3 different moments in time and how your subject matter allows you to depict time change.

- I asked my friend to take consecutive photography of my movements that I am jumping into the sofa. My friend had kept pressing the shutter of the camera, capturing my movements from the wall to the sofa in 7 different moments of time.

I, as a subject matter of the image, am shown to be depicted in 7 different positions that I have gone through to get to the sofa.

2.     Explain what you would like a viewer to understand and feel when looking at your image.

- Blurred myself in my movements that are occurred between the start and the end is emphasizing the quickness and shortage of time. It had happened within very few seconds.

3.     Explain your choice of media and how it best conveys your concept.

- Photography would be the most interesting and powerful to show several different times of moments. Photography provides the realistic feeling while also providing unrealistic feeling of catching several times of fast movement.
